Mill Valley Hike

Mill Valley Hike

Dog heaven probably looks a lot like Mill Valley. Offleash on the fire roads, table-side at restaurants -- Mill Valley is petopia. Tap into the dog-friendly fun, right over the Golden Gate.

The Hike
We suggest a partial loop in Mount Tamalpais above Mill Valley.

Without question, this is one of the best hikes in the bay area. Sometimes steep, but so worth it once you reach the summit and take in the views. Just right for whatever your pace, this 6.6 mile hike is easy to cut short with many connecting trails to choose from. Dogs must be on leash on the trail, but nearby fire roads are off-leash territory. So turn the pooch loose. (A friendly reminder: pack a little more water than usual. Mt. Tam temps soar on spring days).

Chow Down
After working up an appetite on the mountain, the Dipsea Café is a natural stop for lunch or dinner. Pop in for fresh, home-style eats right on 101. Or, take in the patio at the Marin Brewing Company with your doggie nearby onleash. Just a few minutes north on 101, this local spot is just right for a beer and live acoustic tunes on weekends.
