It's that time again, your dog's most anticipated end-of-the-summer activity - Dog Swim Days! These super fun days are held at local swimming pools and water parks across the country, typically in late-August and early-September. Timed just as the pools are closing for the summer and before they're drained, it's the one time of the year when dogs are welcomed to fetch, dog paddle and frolic in the pool. These fun days are not available in all areas, so if you're lucky enough to have one held nearby, grab your pup and floating toys and go!

At many events, there’s more than just swimming and socializing – you’ll find games and contests, like the ‘Biggest Splash’ and ‘Coolest Wet Dog’ contests at the event hosted by the Capital K9s, Madison, Wisconsin’s Police Department K9 Unit. Over 1000 dogs attended this event in 2011! At some events, you'll find animal rescue groups with adoptable pets looking for their forever homes, local vendors selling goodies for dogs, and more. Many events charge a nominal admission fee, which is typically donated to animal rescue groups, something your dog would definitely approve of!
