Is your dog a top dog in San Francisco? According to the most recent report from the American Kennel Club (AKC), the following are the most popular breeds in San Francisco:

SAN FRANCISCO'S TOP DOGS

1. Labrador Retriever
2. Yorkshire Terrier
3. Poodle
4. Golden Retriever**
5. Bulldog
6. Dachshund
7. Pug
8. French Bulldog
9. Maltese
10. Boston Terrier

** Tied with #3


The AKC also posted the following stats:

- Over half of the city's favorites this year are little guys (i.e., small dogs).

- San Francisco and Los Angeles were the only cities in the US to include the French Bulldog in
their Top 10 lists. This breed has had a 404% nationwide increase in popularity over the past ten years.

- San Francisco seems to be a trend setter with regard to English Bulldogs. These guys were in our top 10 a year before they made the national list. They still remain on our list in spot five.
