Bid on Oprah's Favorite Things to Help Muttville

Subject: Muttville is One of Woof Report's Favorite Things
Category: Lend a Paw
By now you’ve probably heard the news, Oprah’s legendary “Favorite Things” episode, which aired about a week ago, marked the very last time she’ll surprise her audience with fabulous and extravagant gifts. In fact, she aired two episodes and bestowed gifts upon two audiences providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise including an Apple iPad, diamond earrings, sparkly UGG boots, Coach bags, and even a 2012 VW beetle!
Not just anyone was invited to attend the show, the audience was selected from those that had submitted stories to Oprah’s website about “someone who has made a difference in your life or caused you to change.” The person that submitted the story and the person which whom they wrote about were both invited to attend. Even better, those that were selected were simply invited to attend the show, completely unaware Oprah wanted to give back to all of the people that were givers in some way or another themselves.
And what does this have to do with dogs?
The San Francisco Bay Area’s own Muttville was invited to attend the show! Volunteer Patty Stanton had written about Muttville Founder Sherri Franklin and the impact saving senior dogs has had on her – including adopting her own Muttville pup, Frankie, and she and Sherri were invited to attend Oprah's show.
In case you haven't heard about Muttville, it's a wonderful nonprofit dog rescue group whose mission is ‘to change the way the world thinks about and treats older dogs and to create better lives for them through rescue, foster, adoption and hospice.’ They focus on rescuing and finding homes for senior dogs, which we all know are sadly the most challenging for which to find homes. Browse the adorable adoptable dogs featured on the Muttville site and have your tissues handy – you’ll find older pups and their stories of being abandoned or losing their families. It’s truly heartbreaking.
Thanks to Muttville Founder Sherri, along with Patty and nearly 200 other volunteers, Muttville works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of senior pups. They have saved nearly 700 dogs in the last three years!
If that’s not enough to make you admire all of the people behind Muttville, get this: Sherri and Patty are auctioning off gifts they received from Oprah to raise funds for Muttville's senior dogs. The online auction is underway now and ends on December 6th. Now is your chance to get your paws on a Coach bag, beautiful diamond earrings, and much more – all to help Muttville save senior dogs.
Nicely done, Muttville!
