To Twitter or not to Twitter? If you haven’t yet accepted those Twitter.com invites from your friends, now’s the time. It’s not just another free social networking site to eat up your free time. Twitter has grown into one of the world’s most popular messaging services, and with Animal Rescue Online, Twitter’s a friend to shelter pets.
Get this: On February 28th, Animal Rescue Online teams with Twitter to host its first ever Tweet Blast for homeless pets. To participate, simply post one tweet promoting a pet on Petfinder.com to encourage people to adopt homeless pets.
It’s easy and here’s how it works.
Visit Petfinder.com and find a pet of your choice that is currently available for adoption. Copy and past the url from the pet’s profile page into a Twitter message (you’ll need to be a member to do this and can sign up for free at Twitter.com). Then post your tweet on February 28th. You only get 140 characters for your message, so you may want to use tinyurl.com to create a tweet-able size url.
Here’s a sample tweet post:
“Thinking about getting a dog? Rocky, a Maltest, is looking for a home! http://tinyurl.com/cc2dto. Please consider adopting.”
Just think, your tweet post could help a shelter pet in your community find a loving forever home. Finally…a really good reason to spend even more time twittering online.
The shelter pets are counting on you. Join the Tweet Blast on February 28th.
